HTC One M8 Prime release date already suspended

Just as the HTC One (M8) Ace is officially announced, the smartphone's higher-end sister device HTC One M8 Prime is indefinitely suspended, according to notorious industry leakster @evleaks.

As to why the manufacturer decided against the super-charged handset, industry analysts can only speculate. However, since HTC never officially confirmed the One Prime, it hardly needs to announce its suspension either.

When rumors about a HTC One M8 version with superior specs started to circulate, owners of HTC's current flagship were all but pleased. Many wouldn't have bought the handset if they had known a much better version with enhanced screen and speed was coming.

Any complaints of that nature should start dying down however, with HTC seemingly having lost interest in manufacturing the HTC One Prime.

The One (M8) Prime was rumored to come with a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 quad HD display panel, a good contender to take on the LG G3, and better than the One M8's 5-inch 1080p display.

The One Prime was reported to be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 805 2.3 GHz chip with 3GB RAM, USB 3.0 port, 18 MP duo camera, a 5MP front-facing camera and a 3000mAh battery.

M8 Prime sounded very promising before it was put on ice; much more when there are rumors that it would be made of liquid silicone, composite aluminum and exotic material.

The smartphone were also to feature a high-tech LTE Advance Category 6 radio, allowing data download speeds of up to 300 Mbps.

If HTC pushed the Prime, it would have been a good choice to compete with the current generation flagships from LG, Samsung and Apple, with its rumored September release date. For now, that release date has also been ditched.
