While users are going to have to wait for some more time to get their hands on an HTC Vive virtual reality headset, this has not stopped the details about its developer edition leaking. The developer edition of the VR headset is named Pre and its manual was made public by HTC lately, after which it was quickly picked apart for details.

Reporting on the leak of the manual, Ubergizmo states that it originated from within the ranks of HTC. However, it was not surprising because it is targeted at developers who are planning to buy the HTC Vive Pre or already own it. Even though the manual was downloaded and reported on extensively by many websites, it is clear that HTC will be altering several bits of hardware and software on the device before its commercial edition is released.

This means that the manual will also change to reflect the updates that come on the final edition of the HTC Vive. However, what was significant about the manual of the HTC Vive Pre is that it revealed several interesting details about the VR headset, namely how much space the user needs within a room to use it. Uniquely, with the aid of the HTC Vive's "Lighthouse" stations, users will be able to move up 16 feet away from their computers and their movements will be tracked. As for the minimum amount of space required to set up the HTC Vive Pre, it is a 5 ft by 6.5 ft. Also, in the manual, HTC took pains to stress the users will be able to sit or stand and not move around if they wanted and the VR headset would work just fine.

This means that whether users are moving or standing still, the HTC Vive is going to provide a good experience and Gamespot states that this will give users the best options compared to other headsets. There is also a front facing camera on the HTC Vive, which users can employ to ensure that they do not bump into objects or pick up ones that they want to handle.
