iOS 10 release date, features: Dark mode, split-screen feature makes its way to iPhone; more powerful Siri expected

(www.apple.com)iOS 10 is the expected to be previewed during WWDC

The Worldwide Developers Conference 2016 will begin next week and Apple is set to give more details about their new software. iOS users are getting excited to know what this new operating system update will bring to their devices.

Rumors are rife as to what the iOS can deliver once it gets rolled out. According to the latest speculation, the new update might feature a Dark Mode for iOS devices. iHelpBR (via MacRumors) provided concept images as to what the iOS interface would look like when it has a dark theme. This mode reportedly activates when the environment is dark, such as during sunset or low-light conditions, darkening the phone's display.

Another interesting concept from iHelpBR is the split-screen feature from iPad which will reportedly make its way to the iPhone with the iOS 10 update. The feature will allow users to multitask when the device is in landscape mode.

It remains to be seen if Apple will push through with the concept of a change in interface, but it should be an interesting feature to watch out for.

Other previous rumors focus on Siri, which is considered to be the highlight of iOS 10. It was speculated that Siri will finally find its way to Mac and that this virtual assistant will become more powerful.

Last month, The Information reported that Apple will extend Siri's reach to third-party applications. This means that any developer can integrate Siri into their app, which means people can run apps outside of Apple using voice control. This makes Siri more efficient and a more powerful assistant.

Earlier, 9to5Mac also reported that Siri might soon become a feature of Mac. According to the publication, Siri has been tested to work with OS X since 2012, but sources reveal that the Cupertino-based company may finally be ready to have Siri on board Mac laptops.

Apple fanatics will just have to wait for the WWDC, which kicks off on Monday, June 13, 1 p.m. ET in San Francisco, California, to find out all the features that the iOS 10 update will bring.
