iOS 8 release date with Macbook Air, iPhone 6, new iMacs and iPad Pro at Apple WWDC 2014?

Apple is in the works with new products expected to launch in 2014. Whether it will be the iWatch, iOS 8, iPad Pro, Apple TV, bigger iPhone, MacBook Air With Retina and others, the industry is interested on what the company has to offer.

When Apple announced its second quarter financial results, CEO Tim Cook gave some hints about the products that the company is working on, including new product categories. It is not the time to unveil them yet, but they are products the company is very excited and proud of.

He said some of those products are already seen in the market, but it is not about being first to produce them, but being manufacturers of quality products that matters. After all, the customers will always go for quality.

iWatch

With the mention of the products "already seen in the market", and it is not being "first" that matters, but the "quality", many believe the Apple CEO referred to wearables. Apple's much-rumored-iWatch is something that the Cupertino firm has delayed for a long time.

Early reports said the iWatch may show in next month's WWDC 2014, but recently it is said that it will not, since WWDC will focus on the new Mac OS X 10.10 and iOS 8. The iWatch may come later in the last half of 2014, or in early 2015.

iOS 8

The next Apple mobile OS version is iOS 8, which may be announced at WWDC 2014. Among its highlights will most likely be "health-related" features such as fitness tracker and blood pressure gauge. Siri may also have a new feature to identify music as Apple is said to work with Shazam.

iPad Pro

There are rumors that Apple shall update the iPad this year, maybe just like iPad Air plus the Touch ID we see in iPhone 5s. Another possible dramatic update is a bigger iPad which Apple may call iPad Pro.

Bigger iPhone

The current flagship phone is the iPhone 5 lineup. Thus, the next iPhone might be the much-hyped iPhone 6 which is said to launch in the Q3 2014. Whether it has a bigger display screen just like the other flagships rolled out this year such as the Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8, or not, it is something that no one except Apple can tell.

Inexpensive iMac

There are rumors about an inexpensive iMacs to be announced at WWDC 2014. If low-cost iMacs will roll out, especially with significant price difference, they may be a threat to the Mac mini.

New Apple TV

Apple TV has done best in its market category, even dubbed by Apple Insider as Apple's fastest growing hardware, selling $1 billion in 2013, and 28 million units since 2007. That can be enough justification for Apple to think of new innovations in this category. When Cook said they no longer see it as a "hobby" product, that triggered rumors that Apple might have plans for another TV set; or even eyeing for an actual TV.

However, like the iWatch, Apple TV is something its maker will be holding on for the mean time. Reports said it will not show up in the upcoming WWDC; perhaps in the second half of this year or early next year.

New Mac Mini

So far, Apple has produced two Mac minis – the first one in 2012 and the Mac Mini with Retina display in 2013. The second Mac mini had modest updates from the first. The tech audience would love to see more updates on the next Mac Mini, maybe in WWDC, that is, if Apple will continue this product line.

MacBook Air With Retina

There are some slight updates of the MacBook Air recently, specifically the processor and price decrease. However, many are still expecting the new Macbook Air to have a Retina display. Hearsays say it will be a 12-inch model, with an 11.88-inch screen and will roll out in Q3 2014.

Mac OS X 10.10

There are already many existing versions of the operating system (OS) for Mac computers, the most recent of which are the OS X 10.8 (codenamed Mountain Lion) in 2012 and OS X 10.9 Mavericks in 2013. Thus, the tech media says the next version will most likely be Mac OS X 10.10. Recent reports said OS X 10.10 will be showcased together with iOS 8 in the upcoming annual big event of the Cupertino family – WWDC 2014, June 2 to 6, San Francisco, CA.
