iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak news: No release date announced yet; hackers may be waiting for latest iOS update

With the iOS 9.3 coming up, there is a little time to jailbreak the iOS 9.2.1. It seems, however, that it is a tough guy to crack as no words yet is heard from popular jailbreakers Pangu 9 and TaiG.

Earlier last month, though, an Italian developer named Luca Todesco, more popularly known by his Twitter username @qwertyoruiop, announced earlier last month that he was able to jailbreak iOS 9.2.1 on his iPhone 6. He refused to publish the jailbreak tool, though for unknown reasons.

Some are speculating that Todesco, and even Pangu 9 and TaiG, are holding off the jailbreak tool because of how close Apple users are to receiving the iOS 9.3. It does not make sense to release the tool now when it is going to be patched up in the next system upgrade so quickly. They may be waiting for the iOS 9.3 before putting a new jailbreak out into the public.

There is no jailbreak tool either for iOS 9.2, which may be a blessing in disguise. In case a tool is available, there is a high chance that it may not be compatible with the iOS 9.2.1. This is because Apple had already included security fixes in it that could mess up with the exploits jailbreakers have been using.

At this time, the only versions of iOS that had been jailbroken are iOS 9, 9.0.2 and 9.0.1. The untethered jailbreak is available for Mac or Windows PC and compatible with iPhone 4s to iPhone 6s.

A word of caution from Apple for those who want to jailbreak their Apple devices is clear: Unauthorized modification of iOS can cause security vulnerabilities, instability, shortened battery life, disruption f services, inability to apply future software updates and other issues.
