iOS users will get more personal entertainment next month onboard United Airlines with its new in-flight entertainment system, Fox Business reports.

The personal entertainment will be on select aircrafts come April. It will allow users to pick their movies of choice from over 150 on the list and about 200 TV shows, from their iOS – for free.

According to United Airlines, it will apply on Airbus A319, Airbus 320, Boeing 747-400 and some 777-200 aircrafts. By the end of the year, the system will be in most of the domestic aircrafts.

The entertainment system will run on laptop browsers and United's iOS app. It does not need Wi-Fi to download the browser plug-in nor the app.

Others can watch the programs via the United Portal found on laptop browsers which likewise do not require an app or a plug-in. A United spokesperson said this service will also be available for Android devices by the year's end. For now, Android operating system is not supported.

Houston-based Travel Leaders owner Michelle Weller said the agency added clients' ability to pre-pay Wi-Fi last year and said it was a big hit. She expects many travelers will most likely enjoy this added option as people demand for Wi-Fi entertainment, as she herself asks for it all the time.

United Airlines has about 75 percent planes with Wi-Fi. Weller thinks it is a way for United to reach out to its customers and give them a better flight experience. She added, seeing other airlines following suit will not be surprising.

People bringing iPads and other devices love their gadgets as if they were pets; and that watching films or surfing the net with an individual device is more comfortable and personal than watching on a distant screen.
