It is not a long shot to say that having a tablet is almost a necessity nowadays — be it for work or school. It is the handier alternative to the bulky laptop and with today's fast paced lifestyle, being connected with a tablet proves to put people at an advantage.

Unsurprisingly, most tech companies have come out with their own version of the portable device thus making a tablet for every kind of need and every kind of consumer, available. While there is no denying how saturated the market is, Samsung and Apple, however, are arguably leading the tablet race.

Because of the almost equal demand for Samsung and Apple products, the two tech giants are currently going head to head, even going so far as producing a device that look eerily similar to each other — the iPad Air 2 and the Samsung Tab A 9.7. While the tablets do look almost identical, there is still a question of which one is better.

Apple came out with the iPad Air 2 almost a year ago in October of 2014. It is the thinnest tablet offering from Apple, measuring only 6.1 mm and weighing less than a pound. It has the same 10-hour battery life as its predecessor and it runs on an Apple A8X processor. It has a 1.2 MP front camera and an 8.0 MP rear camera. The device comes in two variants — Wi-Fi and WiFi Cellular. It sells for for $499.

On the other hand, Samsung Tab A 9.7 was released earlier this year in May and is subsequently dubbed as the "iPad killer." As the name suggests, the device measures 9.7 inches and runs on 1.2 GHz Quad-Core, Qualcomm APQ 8016. It is equipped with two cameras — a 2 MP front camera and a 5 MP rear camera. The Samsung Tab A 9.7 sells for $279, almost half of the iPad's price.
