iPad Air 3 release date rumors: Is a September unveiling possible?

(Apple)Apple's iPad Air 2

September is shaping up to be a big month for Apple, especially with the eagerly anticipated iPhone 7 reportedly on its way. But could the Cupertino, California-based tech giant make the month even more memorable by potentially unveiling the iPad Air 3?

At this point, it's hard to tell exactly what Apple has planned for the rumored tablet.

The tablet has been a staple of the rumor mill for a while now, going all the way back to last year when it was expected to be launched in October, and yet, it's still tough to say exactly when it will be coming out.

Earlier this year, some folks also had the tablet pegged for a March 21 debut alongside some new Apple devices, and yet again, that event also came and went without any iPad Air 3 announcement.

It's unclear why Apple is taking so much time to refresh the tablet line, though part of it may have to do with the other products that the company has launched recently.

With two new iPad Pro tablets already being released just within months of each other, it's clear that Apple has designs of turning that product line into something big, perhaps even at the expense of other previously established offerings.

After all, there can only be so many tablets in the market.

Still, all hope is not yet lost for those waiting for the iPad Air 3.

Perhaps the delay is just a function of the company focusing on launching other product lines properly first, while they work out the kinks for the rumored tablet.

History may even repeat itself. Just as the iPad Pro showed up surprisingly at last year's September event, the same somewhat surprising reveal could also be staged yet again, but this time for the iPad Air product line.

According to MacWorld UK, a September launch for the new iPad Air remains possible, and if it is still not revealed by that time, then a March unveiling could still be in the cards.

Hopefully, whatever Apple has in store for the iPad Air 3, people will find out about it soon, and perhaps the company could even put an end to the speculation by finally giving folks their first look at the rumored tablet.
