iPad Air 3 release date rumors: some say it's most likely to be out by October

(Apple)The iPad Air 2 which was released two years ago. There are speculations now that the iPad 3 might be unveiled in October.

The fate of Apple's iPad Air 3 remains unclear as the ultra-lightweight tablet from the California-based company was nowhere to be found at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). However, recent reports suggest that the iPad Air 3 may most likely be unveiled sometime in October.

This speculation was based on Apple's trend when it released iPad Airs 1 and 2, where both went out in the month of October. Hence, tech analysts assumed that there's a possibility that the much-awaited tablet might come out during that month.

However, avid Apple users were already given the impression that the company may have secretly discontinued the "Air" lineup since its a known fact that the company failed to produce an iPad Air last year and introduced the Apple iPad Pro instead.

The iPad Pro that came out November last year has two size variants which include a 9-inch entry-level tablet and a bigger 12-inch version. The smaller iPad Pro is powered by an A9X processor together with an Oscar (M9) motion chipset. The tablet has a total random access memory (RAM) of 2 GB and a 2048 x 1536 screen resolution. In addition, the iPad Pro is equipped with the so-called True Tone display where the tablet uses ambient light sensors that adapt the screen's display to its current environment. It comes with a battery pack that can last up to 10 hours.

Having said these, the specs of the iPad Pro has some subtle similarities to the current iPad Air 2 and if ever Apple decides to roll out a new iPad Air, some speculate that there will be very few tweaks and upgrades in terms of its specs.

In the meantime, avid followers of Apple will just have to wait for the latest updates, most especially this September since it's also rumored that the company is about to reveal its latest flagship phone which is the iPhone 7.
