iPad Pro 2 release date, specs rumors: When will Apple officially reveal the new tablet?

(Apple)Updated iPad Pros expected to arrive next year

While the outlook for many of Apple's tablets appears somewhat bleak, the same cannot be said for the iPad Pro, and its potential follow-up, the rumored iPad Pro 2, as it may even be announced soon.

Exactly how soon however is a question that is still waiting to be answered, as Apple has continued to hold their plans close to the vest.

Last month, a report from Bloomberg noted that software upgrades for the updated tablet could be rolled out as early as the first half of next year, though an exact date was not indicated.

Still, recent history may offer a clue related to when the so-called iPad Pro 2 may make its official debut.

Back in March, Apple introduced the public to the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, and there's a chance that the technology giant may again opt to hold another event during that time next year.

Whereas this year's edition of the March event featured both the smaller iPad Pro and the iPhone SE, Apple could put more focus on their new tablets next year. Doing so could even allow Apple to establish March as the time of the year for new iPads to arrive, just as September is the month for the new iPhones.

In related news, there's also a chance that even more variants of the iPad Pro are introduced next year.

According to an investor note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that was subsequently obtained by AppleInsider, Apple may offer as many as three different variants of the next generation iPad Pro next year.

In addition to the already existing 9.7 and 12.9-inch models, Apple may be planning to offer a third - a 10.5-inch tablet.

The new tablets coming next year are not expected to be all that different from the ones currently available, though some software and hardware upgrades are still expected.

More details regarding Apple's next generation iPad Pros should be made available in the near future.
