With the release of the new iPhone models due to happen in September, the Internet has been inundated with a number of leaks about the iPhone 6s and the bigger iPhone 6s Plus. The latest involved a number of photos that allegedly originated from the new units being manufactured; these photos showed the front panel of the smaller iPhone 6s.

First off, the leak which was reported by a French website, Nowhereelse, provided a detailed look at the front panel of an iPhone which many assumed was the iPhone 6s instead of the iPhone 7. This assumption was based on the fact that very few changes were noticed on the panel which means that it will most likely bear the "s" tag and not be named the iPhone 7.

However, as soon as news of the leaked photos hit the Internet a few days back, there was a flurry of activity on social media sites like Twitter where the term "iPhone 7" became a trending topic.

As for industry pundits, they are pointing out that the latest leak simply indicates that, as per previous reports and rumors, Apple is only upgrading the internal components of the device and will still be using the external design from last year's iPhone 6. One factor behind the decision not to overhaul the design could be due to the fact that the iPhone 6 has continued to see huge sales even though it is trailing behind other devices in terms of speed.

Apple recently revealed its Q3 financial results and the tech company stated that they sold nearly 47.5 million units of the iPhone 6 between April and June alone. This continued success could mean that Apple will stick with the popular design but introduce new features such as Force Touch.

In addition, there have been rumors that the upcoming iPhone 6s would be manufactured with a harder aluminum alloy which would reduce its chance of bending. However, the latest leak did not indicate that a new material was being used.
