Apple had released the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September last year, but there are reports of the tech giant preparing to unveil a new flagship handset before the last quarter of this year. Most of the speculations about the upcoming handset have not been confirmed, though rumors suggest that the new iPhone is shaping up to be a revolutionary incarnation of the widely-successful iOS phone.

According to an article published by Macrumors.com, Apple will release two iPhones in the coming months. In light of the success of the iPhone 5S and 5C, the next generation handsets will be named accordingly – iPhone 6S and iPhone 6C. Not much is known about the iPhone 6C, as most of the speculations surround the iPhone 6S, though both the versions are expected to be released at the same time and the iPhone 6C is likely to be a lot smaller in size.

Apple's Force Touch technology, which was introduced in the Apple Watch, is also rumored to be featured in the iPhone 6S. Force Touch allows users to access more options by hard-pressing the screen similar to what a right-click does on a PC.

The new iPhone 6S is expected to look similar to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, as the current models have already been redesigned. The iPhone 6S is expected to come with an A9 chip, 2GB RAM, and an upgraded 12 MP rear camera.

The new iPhone 6S will be the first handset to feature the upcoming iOS 9 update as its pre-installed official OS. The new operating system is expected to be released as early as September 2015, which has sparked speculations that the iPhone 6S will also be unveiled at the same time as the iOS 9.

September is set to be an exciting month for Apple fans, as the company is expected to unveil its new operating system and devices. Stay tuned for the latest news on Apple's new launches and releases.
