iPhone 8 rumors: Upcoming Apple device capable of taking 3D selfies

(Apple)Shown are the five color variants of the iPhone 7 Plus. The latest rumors claim that the iPhone 8 may be capable of taking 3D selfies.

It has only been roughly six months since the iPhone 7 was dropped in the market, but, this early, fans are already anticipating what the next iPhone, the iPhone 8, will offer. If the latest reports are to be believed, though, the iPhone 8 may, indeed, be worth anticipating as it is alleged to come with a laser-scanning technology that will enable the upcoming Apple device to capture 3D selfies.

There is no denying that the iPhone 8 is one of the most-anticipated mobile devices for 2017. This is not only because Apple is known to deliver impressive improvements on its latest device annually but because the iPhone is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. This is also the reason why some sources claim that the upcoming iPhone may depart from its usual nomenclature and assume the name iPhone X instead of the iPhone 8.

However, the iPhone 8 is not just about having a new name, obviously. According to the latest reports, it may be the first device capable of taking 3D selfies as, allegedly, the device will come with a laser face-scanning technology. If this turns out to be true, a person's facial features will appear in three dimensions when using the upcoming iPhone 8 (or iPhone X, if ever) for a selfie.

Apart from being rumored to be capable of taking 3D selfies, it has also been discovered recently that an Apple subsidiary in Singapore applied for a patent for its new AirPods, making it capable of acting like a defibrillator. Reportedly, the latest version of the Apple accessory will come with a new X1 chip using advanced taptic technology that can spike the voltage of the AirPod up to 45V upon the command made on the iPhone 8. Experts claim this is enough to restart the heart of almost any rodent.

While rumors claiming that the iPhone 8 will be capable of taking 3D selfies and is a rodent defibrillator are nothing short of awesome, they are to be taken with a grain of salt for now as they can only be confirmed once the iPhone 8, whatever it may be called eventually, is launched, allegedly, in June this year.
