'Iron Man 4' rumors: Robert Downey Jr.-starrer one of the three unnamed Marvel movies for 2020

(Marvel)Is "Iron Man 4" one of the three unnamed movies that Marvel is releasing in 2020?

Although Robert Downey Jr. said in an interview that "Iron Man 4" is happening, no official statement from the actor and Marvel Studios has been made since then. While some now have become skeptic on the possibility of another solo "Iron Man" movie, some believe that "Iron Man 4" may be one of the three unnamed movies that Marvel is set to release in 2020.

It was in 2014 when Downey Jr. revealed in an interview on "Ellen" that "Iron Man 4" is happening. After beating around the bush, the actor finally answered Ellen DeGeneres' question with a yes as she asked him the second time around.

However, it has almost been three years since Downey Jr. confirmed "Iron Man 4," but, as of this writing, Marvel has yet to announce the movie officially. However, some suspect that "Iron Man 4" may not be expected to arrive soon as it can be one of the three unnamed movies that Marvel has scheduled for a 2020 release.

To recall, Marvel announced in 2015 that it will be releasing three movies in 2020. Since then, fans are in a guessing game as to what these movies might be. Nonetheless, "Iron Man" fans don't only hope but believe that "Iron Man 4" is one of the said movies scheduled for a May 1, July 10, and November 6 2020 release.

Despite Downey's earlier statement on "Ellen," though, some can't help but suspect that plans may have changed. After all, there have been numerous reports saying that Downey Jr. may no longer star in a solo "Iron Man" movie because either he is already too old for the role when it begins production, or he and Marvel did not see eye-to-eye on his talent fee.

Furthermore, while promoting the then upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" last year, the actor said that the said movie could already be considered as his "Iron Man 4" of sort.

"In a way it's 'Cap 3' but for me it's like my little 'Iron Man 4.' And then it's back to the thing we all recognize. Everything pulls over to the side of the road when the thunder of an 'Avengers' thing comes through because that's how it is until it changes. If it changes," Downey told USA Today last year.

Is "Iron Man 4" really one of the movies Marvel has in store for its fans? Will there really be an "Iron Man 4?"

Fans can only hope for now.
