The upcoming episode of "Jane the Virgin" season 2 is going to be a Mother's Day special. The synopsis for episode 20, titled "Chapter Forty-Two," reads:

"Petra hosts a brunch for Mother's Day, altering the Villanueva ladies' usual holiday tradition. Meanwhile, Jane's TA position becomes endangered; Rogelio feels left out of Dina's birthday celebration; and Rafael's half brother lands him in hot water."

A trailer has also been released for the upcoming episode, which shows Jane (Gina Rodriguez) receiving the invitation to Petra's (Yael Grobglas) Mother's Day brunch. Even though Xo (Andrea Navedo) and Alba (Ivonne Coll) don't want to go, Jane tells Petra that they will all be there, despite Petra's "you don't have to come." When Jane and her family arrive at Petra's place, they are taken aback by the monotone décor. Petra is, in turn, put off by the bouquet Jane gives her, with an assortment of different colored flowers. "Assorted colors, how fun," she says. The awkwardness is broken, however, by Petra offering everyone a drink, which Jane and her family jump at.

As a result of a headline featuring Michael's (Brett Dier) name linked to an investigation, he got fired. Jane, now the only breadwinner of the family, took on more shifts at the Marbella. She also took Aneska (Yael Grobglas), Petra's twin, under her wing to train her in the ways of being a waitress. Aneska, however, doesn't do too well.

Meanwhile, Xo got a part in a telenovela, thanks to Rogelio (Jaime Camil), who is all for nepotism. Unfortunately, things don't go as planned when Xo found out that she had Spanish dialogue. This resulted in multiple takes, with Rogelio even pasting her lines to his chest. In the end, he told Xo that they would just tweak it in editing.

Rafael (Justin Baldoni), on the other hand, had some trouble with his half-brother, Derek. And Petra was still mad at Rafael for not agreeing to the sole custody agreement she proposed.

"Jane the Virgin" season 2 episode 20 will air on Monday, May 2 on The CW.
