With only one slot left in the FIFA Women's World Cup Finals, Japan and England battle at Commonwealth Stadium in the semifinals.

The match is on July 1, 2015 and will be played at 7:00 PM ET.

Both teams have shown strong character and believable skills to deserve a spot in the finals, but with only one moving on, expect this to be an epic clash between Asian and European forces.

England have gone far and impressed many pundits so far –- exceeding expectations and showing that they are a real threat in women's football.

They showed real character when they faced host Canada in the quarterfinals of the competition.

Against a team with the crowd behind them and a very talented squad, England kept their composure and were given the breakthrough in the 11th minute with Jodie Taylor who had a right-footed shot beat the bottom left corner of the goal for the 1-0 lead.

Less than four minutes later, the lead was 2-0 as Lucy Bronze beat the Canadian defenders to the ball after a pass from Fara Williams from a set piece allowed her to head the goal.

They held on to the lead for as long as they could but Canada were able to score in the 42nd minute –- but that would be the last time they score as England held on to win.

Meanwhile, Japan had a slow and steady pace to just advance through the different rounds and have used the same tactic to reach the semis.

Against Australia in the quarters, the teams were evenly matched but Japan scored late in the game as Mana Iwabuchi scored in the 87th minute when she caught the ball from Azusa Iwashimizu's corner to slot the shot in the bottom center of the goal.

It was enough to get the win and Japan will look to continue their title defense as they face England.

The winner of this match will meet the USA in the showpiece event.
