'Jessica Jones' season 2 spoilers: plot to take place after events in 'The Defenders?'

(Facebook / Jessica Jones)Krysten Ritter will be back for the second season of "Jessica Jones" after she plays the character on "The Defenders." Both shows will be shown on Netflix.

An interview with showrunner Melissa Rosenberg about the plot for "Jessica Jones" season 2 may have revealed that it will take off after the aftermath of the upcoming series, "The Defenders."

It took a while for season 2 of "Jessica Jones" to be announced and it was also revealed that there are other Marvel shows Netlix has in line before the season will be shown. However, fans will see actress Krysten Ritter channel the character beforehand as she is also part of "The Defenders."

During Marvel TV's panel at the recently held Television Critics Association press tour, Rosenberg revealed she has already begun writing for the second season. While she does the writing, she collaborates with producers Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez who are working on "The Defenders."

Rosenberg is enjoying the process and said, "There has to be people who are open to and enjoy collaboration. And not only with each other as partners in this, but with all the showrunners involved." She continued, "I know all of us felt really included in the process."

"The Defenders" also includes the characters Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. The standalone "Daredevil" series has already aired two seasons and has been renewed for a third one with the titular role played by actor Charlie Cox. The standalone "Luke Cage" series is due to debut next month with actor Mike Colter leading the cast. A standalone "Iron Fist" series is also scheduled to premiere in April 2017 with actor Finn Jones playing the role.

The Hollywood Reporter got the chance to interview Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos who said that the 13-episode season 2 premiere of "Jessica Jones" will be determined by the production of "The Defenders."

He said that storytelling wise, questions of the story timeline and other logistics are involved. The issue of whether the event will happen before or after the events in the other series will have to be considered. He also said, "I'd certainly love it to be before but there are things that play into that."
