Earlier this year, Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, co-directors of 2014's "John Wick," confirmed in an interview with Movies.com that a sequel for their action thriller has been ordered and they are already in the process of developing the upcoming movie. According to the directors, ideas for part 2 have started flowing and it is just the matter of finding the right story to progress the characterization of the titular John Wick (Keanu Reeves).

Stahelski said, "We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original. It's the matter of story and how much you like the character. That's always the most important."

More recently, Reeves announced in a report by Collider.com that the tentative schedule for the shooting should be around the tail-end of this month in New York. Although the date is not certain, he said that he hopes to reprise his role sooner rather than later, and that more of the city would be featured in the upcoming film.

In the same interview, the actor talked about having had tiny glimpses of the script. Based on what he knows so far,the production team really took their time and consulted with audiences to find out what they want to see.

"Chad and the writer, Derek Kolstad, they've really listened to what people have enjoyed about the work and how they speak about it," he said. "So there's definitely that influence of the other world, the Continental world, the look, the feel, what it is about the movie, what made people like it; is definitely being paid attention to and the world opens up in this chapter."

With the filming yet to commence, no formal announcement has been made as to the release date of "John Wick 2."
