Marijuana might be legal in some states, but NFL and the rest of the sporting community seem to want to be keeping their league drug-free. Josh Gordon, a wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns, has been suspended for 16 games, meaning that he will miss the rest of the 2014 season.

NFL has a strict drug use policy, and Gordon, being a repeat drug offender, did not receive mercy at the hands of those deciding his athletic fate.

NFL announced that Harold Henderson approved the year-long suspension. Gordon will begin serving his suspension immediately, and will be subject for more drug tests as he goes along the way.

Cleveland Browns general manager, Ray Farmer, said in a statement that they will keep the situation in control and that they will continue to support the 23-year-old athlete during his suspension.

"While we may have strong feelings on the timing and the process of this decision, we have also consistently communicated that we will focus on what we can control in our day to day approach," said Farmer, according to Fox Sports.

"Right now that is preparing our team for the 2014 season and at the same time, supporting Josh however we are able under NFL guidelines during his suspension," Farmer added.

Gordon is not allowed to attend Browns' team practices, or be present at any club meetings for the duration of his suspension.
