'Jurassic World 2' news: Location scouting announced

(Facebook/Jurassic World) The dinosaurs will head back to the big screen by 2018. Some scenes for the sequel will be shot in Hawaii, where location scouting for "Jurassic World 2" begins in November.

It looks like "Jurassic World 2" will be filmed on an island once again as location scouting for the movie begins in November 2016 in Hawaii.

The news was shared by Pacific Business News who also reported that the previous movie was filmed at Kualoa Ranch in Oahu. People in charge of scouting for locations will arrive in November. Aside from Oahu, some scenes in the movie were also shot in Kauai.

It was previously announced that filming will start on Feb. 27 next year, based on a report from Jurassic Outpost. The film will be working under the code "Ancient Futures," which many think is a hint that the dinosaurs will not be contained in an island anymore.

The idea was shared by director Colin Trevorrow himself during an interview with Wired. In the interview, he revealed that "It will not be just a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island," saying that the concept will get old really fast.

He further shared, "I feel like the idea that this isn't always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment. And when you look back at nuclear power and how that started, the first instinct was to weaponise it and later on we found it could be used for energy."

He also talked about the first movie setting up a bigger world so that future sequels could have many directions to explore. Trevorrow has suggested that more scientists will be able to create genetically structured dinosaurs in a scene where Dr. Wu warned Dr. Mesrani, "We're not always going to be the only ones who can make a dinosaur."

It is also speculated that filming will also take place in the streets of London, where the city will be in danger of dinosaur attacks. J.A. Bayona will take over as director for the sequel.

"Jurassic World 2" is scheduled to premiere in June 2018.
