'Jurassic World 2' plot rumors, updates: Production to begin in 2017; movie to return to Isla Nublar

(Jurassic World Movie Official)Jurassic World 2 will reportedly take events back to Isla Nublar.

The dinosaurs will return soon as "Jurassic World 2" will reportedly start production next year.

According to Jurassic Outpost and Reel News Hawaii, the sequel, which bears the working title "Ancient Futures," will begin production on Feb. 27, 2017. Jurassic Outpost explained that it remains to be seen if this exact date will be the start of the crew getting behind the camera or when the sets will be laid out and prepared. It is more likely that the aforementioned date is the filming date, although this has yet to be clarified.

The movie will also reportedly be set in Hawaii but the production team won't be staying long in the area. The principal filming location is assumed to be in Pinewood Studios in London.

"Jurassic World" director Colin Trevorrow won't be on board to direct the film. He will be replaced by "The Impossible" Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona, but Trevorrow will work on the screenplay together with Derek Connolly.

The plot of the sequel is still unknown but given that the filming will take place in Hawaii, it is likely that "Ancient Futures" will once again feature the first movie's fictitious island, Isla Nublar. Even though the dinosaur theme park will return, it is expected that the next movie will not be all about dinosaurs chasing humans as this plot tends to "get old really fast," according to Trevorrow in an interview with Wired.

International Business Times speculates that the theme park will no longer be operational in "Ancient Futures." The plot is expected to focus on what happens after DNA samples of the dinosaurs have been stolen back in "Jurassic World." Trevorrow also hinted in his Wired interview that the idea of having other people able to make a dinosaur is interesting to consider.

Fans will just have to wait to find out about the plot or when the film will finally be released in theaters, which is expected to be on June 22, 2018 for the United States.
