Justin Bieber is turning to religion after a string of controversy followed him, with the video of him saying the "n-word" most recently. According to reports, Bieber was baptized by pastor Carl Lentz of New York City inside a hotel bathroom to avoid any publicity or unwanted attention from fans and photographers. The "Baby" singer was reportedly dipped in a bathtub, which served as the body of water in which born again Christians are baptized.

TMZ reported that Bieber has been spending the last month with the pastor. The gossip website added that the singer has been going through "intense bible studies" and attending services.

A man who had the controversial video reportedly contacted Bieber's team and asked for 1 million dollars to not leak the video.

The video was filmed 5 years ago and shows a younger tattoo-less Justin Bieber hanging out in a room with a girl. In the video, Bieber is telling a joke to his friends, with a punch line that had the n-word in it.

"Why are black people afraid of chainsaws?" asked Bieber to his friends, with one friend heard off-camera even trying to prevent him from continuing.

"Run n***** n***** n***** n*****" continued the singer, mimicking the sound of a chainsaw.

Since the video leaked, Bieber has sent out a public apology, calling his action immature and ignorant. His producer, Usher, came to his defense, saying that Bieber didn't know the power of words during that time.

"What he is now is a young man faced with an opportunity to become his best self, an example to the millions of kids that follow him to not make the same mistakes," said Usher.
