Justin Bieber reveals desire to be honest about his Christian faith in Complex magazine interview

Justin Bieber and Christian are words not often associated with each other. Someone putting them together in a sentence several years ago would have raised eyebrows. But now, although the singer's openness in talking about his faith might still raise a few eyebrows, it's also getting people to look at him in a different — maybe a more mature — light.

The 21-year-old performer recently sat down with Complex magazine and opened up about a lot of surprising things, including his rebellious phase, how he alienated himself from people, moving in with his girlfriend at such a young age, and how his faith has led him to this stage in his life.

The hitmaker didn't definitively say that he's a Christian nor did he deny being one. However, he is known for being friends with Pastor Judah Smith of the Seattle megachurch and with New York's celebrity Pastor Carl Lentz. The two have also been very vocal supporters of Bieber and stood by him during his so-called rebellious phase.

In his Complex interview, Bieber emphasized that he loves talking about his faith but understands that Christians usually leave "such a bad taste in people's mouth" and pegs it to their being "overly pushy with the subject, overly churchy and religious."

Bieber said he's not religious but revealed that he personally loves Jesus, who he described as "the greatest healer of all." He also acknowledged that his faith and trust in God and Jesus was what ultimately saved him in the end.

The "Believe" singer, who was thrust in the public eye at 13, also said that at this stage, he just wants to live honestly like Jesus. But he was quick to clarify that he's not aspiring to be Jesus as he can never be like him, but that Jesus made "a pretty awesome template" of how to live a good life.

Bieber's statements certainly resonated with a lot of people, some taking his comments in a positive way while others questioned it. But regardless of what they are saying, it seems he is really at that point where his renewed faith will see him through.
