Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, two of the biggest rappers in the music industry, are collaborating for an album titled "Reminiscing." The duo are yet to announce an official release date, but reports are saying it will launch any time this year.

The anticipation for the album has again sparked as popular lyricist Royce Da 5'9'' praised the two for staying true to their own style, instead of following the trend just to sell.

He had a recent talk with DJ Vlad about his first solo project called "Layers," which is set to drop on April 15. He discussed about what it means to be a lyricist in this time when being one is considered not cool.

When DJ Vlad mentioned Kendrick Lamar, he said: "[He] is the exception to every rule in hip-hop. He sits in that very successful MC space by himself but he takes that hit. He doesn't sell the same number of records as Drake does. He may have to take that hit in sales to get the Grammy's and receive all the creative accolades."

He also credited J. Cole for being himself, and said, "[He] lives in a space by himself too, man. I think he's quietly outselling most of the artists. He's so himself on records and it's almost a gimmick. Not putting anyone on the album, not wearing all of the high-price shit or pushing the fashion agenda and being about the lyrics and the real-life sh*t."

There are also speculations that an announcement may never come, and the album may just get a surprise launch. Back when they were still teasing fans about a joint album, Lamar said in an interview, "We gon' drop that out [of] the sky though, I ain't gon' give no dates or no nothing. Just gon' let it fall."

Fans are advised that all speculations must be cast with doubt until official statement has been released.
