"Kingsman: The Secret Service" was received well when it premiered in February last year, which is why it wasn't much of a surprise when a sequel was announced in April 2015. Now, more details about the movie have surfaced, likely making fans all the more excited.

Previously dubbed only as "Kingsman 2," the sequel now has its official title, which is "Kingsman: The Golden Circle." Director Matthew Vaughn shared more of the details during his interview with Empire magazine.

Taron Egerton, who played Eggsy in the first movie, will also be back to reprise his role. Alongside Egerton are Halle Berry and Julianne Moore.

A surprise blockbuster hit would be difficult to follow and that's how Vaughn felt for "The Golden Circle."

"I didn't know if I wanted to direct this or not. I was worried about the villain. Spy films are only as good as their villains. Then one morning I woke up with the whole storyline in place, and a new villain plot."

In the sequel, Moore will play Poppy, the new villain who can be found in a secret lair called Poppyland. The second movie will also find Eggsy and Merlin (Mark Strong) going to the United States, where they discover there's an American version to Kingsman HQ, which is headed by Ginger, portrayed by Berry.

Meanwhile, Vaughn also shared that he had received requests to do another church sequence seen in the original movie. According to the director, he has no reason to feature a church sequence, but reveals that he has "other sequences you've never seen before," which include a bar room brawl, robotic dogs, skiing sequence and a new villain he describes as "a massive f****** frankfurter."

Fans are also hoping that an important character in the original movie – Colin Firth – will come back to the sequel. In "Kingsman: The Secret Service," Firth's character, Harry Hart, died after the epic scene of the church massacre. But there could be hope that the sequel will feature him once again.

Speaking to USA Today last year, Vaughn said, "A lot of people are very upset that Colin might not be in the sequel but I'm coming up with ideas at the moment. If people buy tickets in America, I've got a feeling we'll figure out a way for having Colin back."

"Kingsman: The Golden Circle" is slated to be released on June 16, 2017.
