"Left 4 Dead 3" continues to be subject of rumors despite the lack of official announcement from developer Valve. The latest of these rumors suggest that the third installment to the zombie-themed first-person shooter game series is likely to happen.

The rumor comes after Valve artist Tristan Reidford posted a screenshot of a tutorial intended for Destinations Workshop tools. In the screenshot found by ValveTime, there was a list of folders on the left side of the screen. At the topmost of that list, a folder named "left4dead3" was spotted and this sparked speculation that somehow Valve will indeed push through with the game's release.

After it garnered attention from the online community, the report stated that the image has been taken down and replaced with a new one that removed the game folder.

Although this might have given hope to many fans who have been clamoring for the sequel, there are those who dismissed this as purely a hoax since the folder was placed in a conspicuous spot. If the developer really had plans for the game, it wouldn't have given away the secret just like that. Whether or not the image was legitimate remains to be seen but Valve really did a good job in teasing the game.

So far, "Left 4 Dead 3's" development still belongs to the rumor category. According to unconfirmed reports, the game is expected to come out in 2017. It is said that the sequel will introduce new characters named Keenan, Garrett, Irvin and Katherine.

"Left 4 Dead 3" is also rumored to feature six new campaigns. These are titled Early Destination, No Mercy, Crashland, Cliff-Hanger, Impasse and Inquisitor Land, as reported by Express. The publication did not share its sources, which means that these reports should still be taken with a pinch of salt. Fans should just wait for a confirmation from Valve regarding the game's development.
