With a lot of attention being focused on Motorola and its upcoming smartphones, it is clear that the launch of the Moto Z lineup with its modular accessories has caused analysts to sit up and take notice. In the latest rumors about Motorola devices, there have also been indications that Lenovo, which now owns the brand, will be bringing out the Vibe C2 as a replacement for the Moto E device this year.

Traditionally, the Moto E device has been the cheapest from Motorola and this is the policy it has followed over the years. This year, the company has not revealed any details about this particular offering but it is likely that it will be arriving to cater to people who prefer a budget-priced smartphone. However, picking up and reporting on the recent rumor about the Vibe C2 which is expected from Lenovo, Android Headlines states that this device is expected to arrive instead of the Moto E.

The report goes on to explain that the model numbers of the Vibe C2 point towards this happening as they were seen to be the XT1700 and XT1706 when specs and images of the device were leaked recently. Previously, Motorola had used the XT1505 and XT1524 model numbers to refer to Moto E devices. Because of the model numbers' similarities, analysts believe that this shows that the Vibe C2 will be following in the Moto E's footsteps with regard to the market it caters to.

There are also rumors that the Lenovo Vibe C2 will be releasing with the name Moto E in some markets but it is also likely that it will be dubbed as the Vibe C2 in Asian markets including China. However, it is the leaked specs and photos of the device which are attracting all the attention now. These specifications have revealed that the device will come with 1 GB RAM and the chipset will be a MediaTek MT6735P version. As for the display, it is expected to measure 5 inches and have a resolution of 720p. Onboard storage is expected to be around 16 GB while an 8-megapixel camera will be on the rear.
