Some of the best budget smartphones and phablets currently in the market are the devices released over the past two years. Here is how the curved G Flex phablet from LG compares to the Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone.

Design

While the G Flex was not a flagship phone from LG, it boasts of stellar features like a curved body and screen. It features a coating on its back panel which can self heal scratches in a few minutes. However, since it is curved, it is made of plastic and only comes in one color, silver. The Xperia Z3, on the other hand, has a sturdy metal frame and glass on its front and back which is protected by the nylon coating present on the corners of the device. A big advantage of the device from Sony is that it has an IP68 rating and which enables it to be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.

Display

The G Flex dominates the Xperia Z3 when it comes to size as it has a P-OLED screen with a curve that measures 6.0 inches with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a density of 245 pixels per inch. As for the Xperia Z3, it has an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 424 pixels per inch.

Specs

When it comes to hardware, the Xperia Z3 is the outright winner as it has a better Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, a Krait 400 CPU with four cores clocked at 2.5 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU. The G Flex, on the other hand, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, a Krait 400 CPU with four cores clocked at 2.26 and an Adreno 330 GPU.

Memory

As the G Flex has no memory slot, external storage cannot be added. The version on the Xperia Z3, however, allows for the addition of 128 GB. As for RAM, the G Flex has 2 GB and the Xperia Z3 has 3 GB.

Price

The G Flex has a full retail price tag of $434 while the Xperia Z3 costs around $470 in its unlocked form.
