LG G4 vs. LG G3 Specs comparison: how much do you care about your photos?

One of the best smartphones of 2014 was the LG G3 and this year the LG G4 aims to live up to the high standards set by its predecessor. Here is how the two devices fare in comparison.

Design

The LG G3 has a better overall appearance as its plastic body has a metallic sheen and it comes with slim bezels. The LG G4, on the other hand, has a slight curve running from top to bottom which protects the screen, in case the phone is dropped face down. As for the G4's build, it is made from plastic and has polycarbonate back panels in gold, grey and white with ceramic paint. There are also optional back panels created from leather dyed in natural colors, which feature a stitch running down the middle.

Display

Both devices have similar display specs. Each measures 5.5 inches and has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch.

Specs

The specs on the LG G4 are better than the specs of its predecessor. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, a CPU with two Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.82 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz and an Adreno 418 GPU, while the LG G3 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, a Krait 400 CPU with four cores clocked at 2.5 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU.

Memory

Both the LG G3 and LG G4 have memory slots and each can be used to expand the external memory to up to 128 GB. When it comes to RAM, the LG G4 has 3 GB while the 16 GB version of the LG G3 has 2 GB and its 32 GB version has 3 GB.

Camera

As for the cameras, both devices have optical image stabilization. However, the LG G4, which uses a 16 megapixel camera, produces better photos compared to the 13 megapixel the LG G3 is equipped with.

Price

The LG G3 is priced at $99 with a two-year contract while the LG G4 costs $199 with a similar contract.
