With less than a week left for the launch of its flagship LG G4, South Korea's second-biggest smartphone maker surprised everyone by unveiling a new phablet, the LG G Stylo, with stylus support.

LG has confirmed that it will unveil the LG G4 at its official event on April 28 and begin selling the next-generation smartphone from April 29 in Korea. LG has already sent out invitations to the media for the company's 'See the Great' events to be held in Seoul, New York, Paris, London, Singapore and Istanbul on April 28.

But just days ahead of the launch of the LG G4 at its official event, the company has taken the wraps off the G Stylo mid-range phablet featuring a stylus pen similar to the LG G3 Stylus released last year. The G Stylo measures 154.3 x 79.2 x 9.6 mm and weighs 163 grams, and will be available in white or titanium gray. The device sports a 5.7-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) resolution IPS display with a pixel density of 256ppi and comes with a stylus, to make it easier for users to work on such a large display measuring almost 6-inches.

The rubber-tipped stylus works in conjunction with software features that LG had earlier incorporated into the Android 5 Lollipop to provide users with more control over their devices. The G Stylo is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset with 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1.5 GB of RAM, and 8GB of expandable memory.

The G Stylo packs an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing shooter, and runs customized Android Lollipop out of the box. The device is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery and offers a complete range of connectivity options, including 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS and USB 2.0. But the most striking feature about the G Stylo is its ability to support microSD cards up to an eye-popping 2TB in size.

The G Stylo will first hit the shelves in LG's home turf South Korea and will soon become available in other regions across the world from May 5 onwards.
