Another device was recently added to LG's smartphone lineup, the V10, and it brings a number of unique features like dual selfie cameras. However, the device has to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 if it wants to become successful in the market, and here is how these two phablets compare.

Design

Both these phablets have great designs but they do not have much metal on them.

On the LG V10, there is stainless steel on its chassis and it is visible on its sides. The back is covered with a textured finish and there is a Dura Guard silicone frame that protects the display in case of drops. At its back, just below the camera, is a fingerprint sensor. However, one of the top features of the device is the additional screen that is positioned above the main screen and it can be used to store shortcuts to contacts, apps and the music player. Importantly, it always remains visible even when the main display is turned off.

The Note 5, on the other hand, has a redesigned S Pen Stylus, which comes with additional features that gives it the ability to write on the screen when it is not active. As for the phone's build, it has a Gorilla Glass 4 and metal frame on its front and back, while its fingerprint scanner is integrated in its home button.

Coming to colors, the Note 5 comes in white, black, silver, and gold while the LG V10 comes in two shades of blue, black, white, and beige.

Display

The LG V10 has a main IPS LCD screen that measures 5.7 inches and it has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 515 pixels per inch, while it's secondary screen measures 2.1 inches and has a resolution of 160 x 1040 pixels.

The Note 5  has a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 518 pixels per inch.

Specs

When it comes to hardware, the Note 5 is ahead as it has a faster Exynos 7420 chipset, coupled with an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and a Mali-T760MP8 GPU.

The LG V10 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, coupled with a hexa-core CPU consisting of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz and two Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.82 GHz.

Memory

There is no microSD slot on the Note 5 and so its memory is not expandable, while the slot on the LG V10 can be used to add up to 2 TB of external storage. Comparing their RAM, each of these devices has 4 GB onboard.

Camera

The main rear camera on the LG V10 and the Note 5 are similar 16-megapixel versions with optical image stabilization. However, the LG V10 has two 5-megapixel cameras in front for selfies while the Note 5 only has one.

Price

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 costs $249 with a two-year contract while the LG V10 is expected to be available via major carriers in the U.S. and could cost around $600 without a contract.
