LG V10 vs Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus: Samsung's device offers great style and faster processor, LG supports up to 2TB of external storage

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is undoubtedly one of the best-looking phablets of the year, but LG is hoping that its latest offering, the V10, with its unique features can take it on. Here is how these two devices compare. 

Design

Coming to design, there is some similarity between these devices. One is that the LG V10 and the S6 Edge have metal frames, but the device from Samsung has Gorilla Glass 4 on its front and back while its competitor has silicone. 

The back of the LG V10 has a textured finish and it has a second smaller screen positioned on top of the main screen. This smaller screen can display a music player, notifications, apps and contacts.

The defining element of the S6 Edge is its curved display that extends over the right and left side of the phone. One of these edges can be customized by the user to display five important contacts, five apps, colors when a contact calls, and also notifications and a night clock.

Both devices have fingerprint scanners, but it is on the rear of the LG V10 while the S6 Edge has it incorporated into its home button.

Finally, coming to colors, the LG V10 comes in black, white, beige, and two shades of blue while the S6 Edge comes in white, black, gold, and silver. 

Display

The main display on the LG V10 is a 5.7-inch IPS LCD version with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 515 pixels per inch, and its secondary screen measures 2.1 inches and has a resolution of 160 x 1040 pixels.

As for the S6 Edge , it has a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 518 pixels per inch. 

Specs

In terms of hardware, the S6 Edge is comfortably ahead as it has the faster Exynos 7420 chipset, coupled with an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz along with a Mali-T760MP8 GPU.

On the LG V10 is a slower Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset coupled with a hexa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz and two Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.82 GHz along with an Adreno 418 GPU. 

Memory

Without a memory slot, the S6 Edge lags behind the LG V10 which has a version that can support up to 2 TB of external storage. As for RAM, each has 4 GB onboard. 

Camera

There is a unique dual 5-megapixel camera combination on the front of the LG V10 whereas the S6 Edge has only one 5-megapixel camera. Coming to their main rear cameras, each of these devices has a 16-megapixel version with OIS. 

Price

The LG V10 could cost around $650 unlocked, while the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus costs $299 with a two year contract.
