'Longmire' season 5 spoilers: new season could be the last?

(Longmire / Facebook)"Longmire" season 5 is expected to premiere in September.

Netflix's original crime drama "Longmire" will wrap up its production for season 5 soon. Fans are excited to know what's next for Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) and the rest of the characters in the series.

According to reports, the upcoming season 5 is most likely going to be the series' last, at least on Netflix. However, the streaming platform has not responded whether the rumors are true or not. The show's fate may depend on the performance of the upcoming season in terms of numbers. As for sneak previews and promos of the series, it could possibly drop anytime this summer.

Other reports also speculate that season 5 will put more spotlight on Walt and Vic's (Katee Sackhoff) blossoming romance. Walt will finally realize that he has feelings, beyond platonic friends, for Vic. Their love and hate relationship will eventually turn into something romantic. But this doesn't mean that the pair will be walking on a bed of roses either as Donna (Ally Walker) enters the picture to stir things up between the two of them.

Meanwhile, Dylan Walsh joins the cast in a recurring role of Shane Muldoon. Shane is reportedly the head of a criminal enterprise. However, he is prim and proper and exceptionally smart to look like one.

According to sources from TV Line, the upcoming season will also be dealing with an Irish crime family and Walt is eyeing on them as he proves a drugs-related murder.

After its ratings dipped on A&E network, "Longmire" was canceled in 2014 by the network with three seasons. Fans were worried that they would no longer get to catch a glimpse of the crime drama; however, fortunately, it was picked up for a fourth and fifth season by Netflix later that year.

"Longmire" season 5 is rumored to premiere sometime in September on Netflix.
