Outfielder Daniel Nava will be out for some time for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim after being placed on the 15-day disabled list last Saurday because of a left knee tendinitis.

According to the Associated Press, Angels manager Mike Scioscia shared that the knee has been troubling Nava since spring training and it was "flaring up" during their series versus the Oakland Athletics last week.

The report added that Rafael Ortega was called up from the minors to replace Nava in the roster and in the lineup.

In eight games played so far this season, his first year with the Angels, Nava is hitting .286 in 14 at bats.

Nava is currently in his sixth season in Major League Baseball (MLB), after also spending time with the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays. The 33-year-old is a veteran who already won a World Series with the Red Sox in the 2013 season.

What the Angels are missing in Nava's absence is a veteran outfielder who is an efficient contributor.

Currently, the Angels are second in the American League (AL) West with a 6-7 record, identical with the third-placed Oakland Athletics, while sitting behind the Texas Rangers (7-6).

It is a somewhat slow start for the Angels who are searching for consistency this 2016 season. As of the moment, Los Angeles just broke a three-game losing skid after winning against the Chicago White Sox in its road series yesterday, Monday. The previous losses, which were against Minnesota, came after a four-game winning streak which saw the club beat the Texas Rangers once, and Oakland thrice.

In the previous campaign, the Angels finished third in the division with an 85-77 record, that led to them missing the postseason.

The last time the club made it past the regular season was in the 2014 season when it reached the Divisional Series but got eliminated in three games by the Kansas City Royals.
