Los Angeles Lakers rumors: Marginal moves may make the difference in the end

After missing out on big-named signings early in the free agency, the Los Angeles Lakers managed to make some moves to try and bolster their line-up.

Their initial targets like LaMarcus Aldridge has agreed to go to the San Antonio Spurs, while Greg Monroe avoided big market teams and headed to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Their drawn-out pursuit of DeMarcus Cousins failed to materialize and in a probable move of desperation, they landed Roy Hibbert from the Indiana Pacers.

Hibbert was heading to the final year of his contract with the Pacers and is set to make around $15.5 million.

But traded to the Lakers during his contract year, the Los Angeles organization is placing their hopes that the 28-year-old will perform well enough to earn a brand new contract.

Meanwhile, they also were able to lure Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams from the Toronto Raptors.

In a deal that is worth around $21 million for three years, expect Williams to still be that spark off the bench as he comes on the two spot when Kobe Bryant needs to take his scheduled rest.

These might be marginal moves for a big market team but it is still better than nothing at all. They are still heavily under rebuilding but while they are not the blockbuster deals we are used to with the Lakers, it is something that fans may be able to live with moving forward.

In addition, it seems like deals are continuing to be made and Brandon Bass is a name that is being strongly linked with the Lakers.

The 30-year-old player of the Boston Celtics had a decent season, averaging 10.6 points and 4.9 rebounds while only playing 23 minutes per game.

An inexpensive player, Bass may only need to receive a veteran minimum with the Lakers getting maximum output for a role player.

He is also considered one of the best steals in the current free agent roster and may even help the development of young Julius Randle.
