Los Angeles Lakers trade rumors 2016: D'Angelo Russell sacrificed for Cavs' Kevin Love?

Los Angeles Lakers point guard D'Angelo Russell vowed an improved performance in the upcoming season. Unfortunately, he remains a hot topic in the rumor mill and now becomes a main piece in a suggested three-team exchange that will land the purple and gold Kevin Love.

Joining the Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers in this possible trade are the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Inquisitr reported that aside from Love, the Lakers are also adding forward Dario Šarić (76ers). Meanwhile, Cleveland would welcome center Nerlens Noel (76ers) and point guard Jose Calderon (Lakers). Then the 76ers will have Russell and guard Nick Young who are both from Los Angeles.

Adding Love and Šarić would be huge for the Lakers who are still rebuilding.

Love is an established star and has great momentum after winning his first championship last season with the Cavs. Aside from being a top option, the 28-year-old would be a threat to any team once he returns to his old self. Before playing for "The Land," he was a double-double machine for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He scored in bunches and was a rebounding juggernaut.

Šarić, on the other hand, is replacing Russell as one of the Lakers' budding talents. The 22-year-old is yet to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) but great things are already expected from him when he makes his debut. He is among the prospects seen to quickly have a big impact in the league.

But even if this is a good move for the Lakers, it might trouble them in the long run, specifically at point guard. Trading Russell and Calderon leaves them with only Marcelo Huertas and Julian Jacobs at the position. This could force head coach Luke Walton to play Lou Williams at no. 1, which then leads to Jordan Clarkson having just Nick Young as his backup at shooting guard. They may have a strong front line with Love and Šarić, but their backcourt will have voids to fill if this happens.
