Earlier, it had been rumored that Microsoft was developing two flagship smartphones — the Lumia 940 and the Lumia 940XL. The Lumia 940 is expected to sport a 5-inch display while the Lumia 940XL will feature a 5.7-inch display. Both the smartphones are also expected to feature a bigger camera than the 20-megapixel sensor present on the Lumia 930. Both the smartphones will reportedly have advanced features such as 3D-Interaction, Iris Scanner and pen support, and are likely to be powered by a new crop of hexa-core and octa-core processors.

However, new leaks have revealed that Microsoft will bring out two flagship smartphones with high-end specifications, indicating that the Redmond giant is planning to go all out to compete against high-end Android and iOS devices. According to the latest reports, Microsoft's first smartphone is codenamed Cityman and will come with a massive 5.7-inch display boasting a QHD resolution of 2,560 by 1,440 pixels. Cityman will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, with a microSD card slot for storage expansion. The device will pack a 20MP rear camera for photos and videos, a 5MP front-facing camera, and a massive 3,300 mAh battery.

Microsoft's second smartphone reportedly codenamed Talkman will feature a 5.2-inch QHD display. The device will be also be powered by a Qualcomm 6-core Snapdragon processor, paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Talkman will pack a 20 megapixel rear camera, a 5 megapixel front facing camera, and 3000 mAh removable battery.

Since Microsoft is likely to push Windows 10 for phones to vendors by the end of Q2, both the high-end smartphones are likely to be unveiled only in early Q3.
