MacBook Air 2016 release date in two months; fans speculate it might have minimal tweaks again

(Apple)Inset is the 2015 macBook Air. The 2016 macBook Air is now rumored to be unveiled at this year's Apple event in September.

It has been almost a decade since Apple released the first ever MacBook Air. Since then, the company has been dishing out MacBook Airs but with very little tweaks and upgrades. As of late, the current version that was released March last year was almost the same as compared to its predecessor which made fans assume that the next MacBook Air 2016 will be no different from its previous models. Furthermore, recent reports suggest that the update-hungry notebook might be finally revealed at Apple's event due to be held two months from now.

Apple followers might remember that this year's Worldwide Developers Conference was quite disappointing to some of them since they were expecting announcements for devices such as the iPhone 7, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and whatnot. Instead, Apple mainly centered on their latest offerings of software such as the tvOS, iOS, and the watchOS. As a result, fans were given the impression that the company is currently struggling on what new features they could offer on their respective devices, especially with the MacBook Air which was somewhat left behind in terms of specs. In fact, the current MacBook Air in the market is still lodged with an old Broadwell chipset despite the fact that Intel's current processor is the Skylake which will soon be succeeded by the Kaby Lake. Moreover, there were even speculations that Apple might no longer be manufacturing the Air lineup and will be focusing more on the MacBook Pro series.

Nonetheless, there are still few who are keeping their fingers crossed that the ultraportable notebook will be revealed in September together with Apple's other high-end devices. In the event that the Cupertino-based company has decided to continue the Air series, it is speculated that the next MacBook Air will be donning a 15-inch display together with a USB Type-C port and the retina display, which has been a constant request of fans for the longest time.

In spite of these, the fate of the said lineup from Apple is still unclear and fans will have to wait and see in September if the MacBook Air is still a go or a no.
