MacBook Pro (2016) release date, specs: Slimmer Pro laptops expected at WWDC 2016?

(Apple)Apple has already released a mysterious teaser for its WWDC 2016 presentation. Will the MacBook Pro be part of the lineup?

Apple will reportedly launch the new MacBook Pro laptops during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) this June. Apple has not confirmed the news, but given that the current MacBook models are already a year-old, its successors' arrival appears to be imminent.

Once the 2016 MacBook models have been announced, they are then expected to arrive during the second half of 2016. Apple was previously rumored to use a staggered release approach for the new MacBook Pro laptops. The 13-inch MacBook Pro might be released soon after the WWDC announcement, but Apple may opt to release the 15-inch model later in the year.

Apple will most likely power the new MacBook Pro laptops with the latest sixth-generation Intel Core Skylake processors. The Intel Core i7 and Intel Core i5 processors are likely to power the new MacBooks.

Apple was also rumored to equip the 2016 MacBook Pro laptops with the latest GPUs from AMD and NVIDIA. NVIDIA already introduced its Pascal GPUs a few weeks ago, and AMD will release its Polaris GPUs in June. It's possible that these next-gen GPUs may find their way into the 2016 MacBook Pro devices.

The 2016 MacBook Pro laptops are also rumored to come with a slimmer body. Just like the new MacBook, Apple may choose to remove some of the ports that will pave the way for a smaller form factor. In their place, there will be two USB Type-C ports with support for Thunderbolt 3. It was also revealed that Apple was looking to use special metal injection molded hinges for the thinner MacBook Pros. Despite a thinner body, Apple will still give the MacBook Pro improved battery life.

Aside from the 2016 MacBook Pro laptops, Apple is also expected to introduce its newest software updates, including the iOS 10, at the WWDC 2016.

Apple's WWDC keynote will be on June 13 at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. All sessions will be streamed live on the official WWDC website or app.
