'Mad Men' season 7 update: Characters' stories come to a surprising end, Matt Weiner denies spin-offs or movie in future

Critically-acclaimed "Mad Men" has won more honors and accolades than any television series in recent times. The Jon Hamm-starring show adeptly chronicles the lives of people in the advertising world in the 1950s and 60s. The plot centers on eccentric and highly complicated, Don Draper, with many other characters having their own sub-plots. The highly captivating series comes to end when the last seven episodes air in April 2015.

At the Television Critics Association panel, actors Jon Hamm, Christina Hendricks, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser, January Jones and John Slattery were present along with the show's creator Matt Weiner. New York Daily News reports that Weiner revealed that all major character's plots will end. The first part of season seven left numerous sub-plots dangling. The second part will close all the chapters of the series' characters. A confident Moss said during the session, "But I've always been surprised by everything Matt has written...I was surprised and pleased."

January Jones, who plays the role of Betty Francis, claimed that she cried for weeks when she read the script. Apparently, all the actors were given their scripts to read at home. Hendricks, who plays vivacious Joan Harris, said she was happy with the script.

The cast and creator skillfully deflected any spoilers for the upcoming season. When asked if there would ever be a spin-off, movie, sequel or prequel, Hamm joked "I think you mean 'Better Call Pete'", referring to a spin-off of "Breaking Bad". Weiner said the final episodes wrapped up "Mad Men" perfectly.

An emotional Hamm, with a perfectly trimmed beard quipped, "Creatively getting to do what we did and what I got to do in playing this person, and tangentially, this amazing group of people that I got to know, became for better or worse, but mostly better, a significant part of my life. There are not a lot of jobs you can point to, at least in our world, that have that effect. This experience has been unequivocally wonderful and I'll miss it", reports Calgary Herald.

The ultimate season of "Mad Men" is scheduled to air on AMC on April 5, 2015.
