2K Games' "Mafia 3" has just been recently announced and confirmed and the publisher, Take-Two, released a comment and said that fans should not, in any means, compare the upcoming IP to the recent title from Rockstar Games, "Grand Theft Auto V."

Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, expressed his opinion regarding the comparison of the two titles. According to GameSpot, Zelnick said that fans should not compare "Mafia 3" to "Grand Theft Auto V" because the former will offer a "completely different experience." The CEO added, "I wouldn't compare it to anything else out there. The reveal was great, but it stands alone."

Zelnick also stressed out that the "Grand Theft Auto" series stands different to the other titles from the company, thus the reason why it should not be up for comparison. "We don't use any other game in the same sentence as Grand Theft Auto. It is the industry's standard-bearer. It's not up for comparison," he said via GameSpot.

However, the two games do have some similarities. They both have a crime-based narrative and contain violence. But, in terms of open-world, "GTA V" has a more immersive world as opposed to the previous installment, "Mafia 2," in which fans only followed the storyline.

Additionally, Zelnick also revealed to GameSpot that Rockstar Games and 2K Games have a different approach when it comes to the technology they use to develop the games. He told the source, "We're blessed that we have two distinct labels at this company. We do not have a tech-sharing environment. We're a very congenial company, but we don't think that's the best way to get the best out of our development folks. It's not the way it works around here."

As for the release date of the third installment, Take-Two finally revealed that "Mafia 3" is going to be released next year, 2016.
