'Married at First Sight' news: Season 3 not expected but spin-off will have second season

It has been a few months since the "Six Months Later" episode of FYI's "Married at First Sight" season 2 was aired and still, the network has not yet announced whether or not the controversial reality show would be getting a third season. Given the explosive aftermath with at least one of the couples in season 2, it is no wonder that FYI is taking its merry time in deciding the fate of the social experiment of a television program.

The second season of "Married at First Sight" is definitely leagues more unsuccessful than the pilot offering. It was revealed during the "Six Months Later" special that none of the season 2 couples stayed married and while that might be disappointing enough, it seems like a pair is heading to the courts to settle the issues in their marriage.

Early in June, before the airing of season 2's last episode, it was revealed by a report from Us Weekly that Jessica Castro and Ryan De Nino's marriage ended with Jessica filing a protection order against her husband. According to the court order, the former reality show wife filed the complaint on De Nino because of, but not limited to, "domestic violence."

It might be awhile before FYI or A&E comments on the renewal of "Married at First Sight"; however, fans of the show who have been waiting since June to get their reality series fix can take solace in the fact that "Married at First Sight: The First Year" has been renewed for a second season, which will be premiering in less than two weeks. According to the official "Married at First Sight" Facebook page, Jamie Otis with Doug Hehner and Cortney Hendrix with Jason Carrion will again be featured in the spin-off.

"The experiment ended, but the journey hasn't stopped! Get excited, folks, because our ‪#‎MAFSFirstYear couples are back for more love-ventures starting October 13th!" reads the announcement.
