More details regarding the upcoming game "Mass Effect: Andromeda" have been revealed. Images of the game's new protagonist were uncovered online giving fans of the video game series a more detailed look.

Since "Mass Effect: Andromeda" takes place long after the events of the original "Mass Effect" trilogy, the upcoming game will have a new protagonist that will take the place of Commander Shepard. While BioWare has not yet officially introduced the game's new protagonist, the character has already been previewed in the gameplay trailer that was released during E3 2015.

The high-resolution images were uploaded to ZBrushCentral, an online forum for artists, by Furio Tedeschi. Tedeschi is a senior character artist from BioWare. The images were uploaded back in January 2015 but were only uncovered recently by fans. Along with the uploaded images, Tedeschi also revealed the protagonist's name.

"And our Pathfinder character model at BioWare Montreal... for 'Mass Effect Andromeda' – Modeled By Herbert Lowis," he said.

According to Eurogamer, like Commander Shepard, Pathfinder will also be customizable. Players can choose to play the character as male or female.

At this time, details for the upcoming game remain scarce. BioWare has not yet commented on the seemingly revealed identity of the protagonist.

Electronic Arts, meanwhile, has announced that the game will be delayed for a few months. Instead of its initial 2016 Holiday season release date, it will now be released during the first quarter of 2017.

It is possible that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" was delayed to give way to BioWare's other upcoming games "Titanfall 2" and "Battlefield 5." The delay may also have to do with the departure of key members of the development team.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" lead writer Chris Schlerf revealed on Twitter that he had left BioWare Montreal a few months ago. Just a few days ago, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" game editor Cameron Harris also revealed on Twitter that she will be leaving BioWare Montreal sometime next month. Given the departure of Schlerf and Harris, BioWare may need more time to work on the game.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows PC. Stay tuned for all the latest news and updates.
