"Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials," is about to hit the theaters in just a few weeks from today and while fans are excited for the second adaptation's release, they are also ecstatic about recent news surrounding the production of the third film.

"Maze Runner" follows a group of teenagers in a post-apocalyptic future as they are unknowingly subjected to a deadly experiment.

The first installment circled around the deadly maze that they have to solve before the living creatures in the maze devour them alive. While the group endured a pretty rough situation in the first installment, they were able to escape from the maze to finally be "free" and rescued. What they don't know, however, is another maze awaits them in their so-called freedom.

The third installment titled, "Maze Runner 3: The Death Cure," would see the group in the aftermath of the experiment. It is then revealed to the young characters that they are indeed part of an experiment and the third version would follow them as they figure out the nature of the tests they were a part of.

Director, Wes Ball, has recently teased fans about the third film, claiming that the upcoming movie would be jumping a year from the events of the second film and would be bigger and better.

"This next one will be cool because we're gonna cut maybe a year later. Yeah, so it'll be cool. Some things have happened off screen, which is gonna make the movie feel even bigger," explained Ball.

He also gushed about how fans should expect "Maze Runner 3" to be widely different from the first two cinematic releases.

He said: "We're working on the third one right now, working to make it even better and even cooler, and doing the same thing we did on this last one where it's a different movie. It's gonna be a different kind of an engine, a different kind of genre almost and a different sort of color palette and terrain. It's gonna be cool. It's gonna be very, very cool I think."

"Maze Runner 2: The Scorch Trials" will premiere on Sept. 18, 2015, and "Maze Runner 3: The Death Cure" is believed to be out by Feb. 17, 2017.
