Miami Heat trade rumors 2016: Goran Dragić for Kings' Rudy Gay, Darren Collison?

The Miami Heat were part of numerous trade rumors in the off-season, and among the teams usually connected to them is the Sacramento Kings. In a potential trade scenario, they are saying goodbye to Goran Dragić to acquire Rudy Gay and Darren Collison.

(Reuters/Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports)Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay is reportedly available on the trade market.

This exchange was reported by Basketball Insiders and the benefits the Heat and Kings will get if it happens were also listed.

For the Kings, this is the answer to their problem at the no. 1 position. Dragić will give them a starting point guard who still has at least three years left in his current contract. The 30-year-old is a great all-around player and could be the piece the squad has been searching for to finally end a decade of postseason absence.

The Heat, on the other hand, land two guys who may fulfill some of their existing roster needs and this deal might be beneficial in the future.

Gay would be a top scoring option for Miami when this materializes. Offense is an aspect of the Heat's game that must be improved as of the moment and the 30-year-old is a significant upgrade. His experience and veteran leadership are important as well since there are youngsters on the roster who have great potential.

Meanwhile, Collison is replacing Dragić at point guard for the Heat and is also adding depth at backcourt.

Although the biggest effect of this, according to the report, is that once the pacts of Dragić and Chris Bosh are disposed, the Heat will have ample cap space. This gives them a chance to land big names in next year's free agency.

The Heat can be considered a franchise trying to pick itself up after falling down hard in the off-season. Moves like this could help in the long run and if they intend to rebuild, which is inevitable for some.
