Michael Schumacher is considered as one of the greatest racers of all time, perhaps even the greatest of his generation. The undefeated seven-time Formula One World Champion was known for his ability to zoom past his competitors, race after race. Unfortunately, a traumatic brain injury sustained during a skiing trip in the French Alps in December 2013 led to Schumacher leaving behind his illustrious career.

Now, the famed driver is taking things slowly as he is fighting his hardest race toward recovery.

In the past 22 months since his accident, Schumacher has been privately recuperating in his Swiss mansion. His family has also remained silent about his progress. Despite the lack of official news regarding his condition, fans and friends of the driver have not wavered and they continue to support him throughout this trying ordeal.

Just yesterday, Schumacher's official website was re-launched and the front page features an official statement from the family of the recuperating Formula One driver.

"Still we receive wishes for Michael to get well soon every day, and still we are stunned by the sheer amount of sympathies," the post reads. "We can only always thank you for facing this fight together with him and us. We remain confident and hope the best for Michael. Your strength is helping us to keep supporting him."

While the statement seems to have been made back in 2014, it was edited to include the Twitter hashtag #keepfightingmichael. It seems that the family is still grateful for the support that Schumacher has received, even after nearly two years since his accident.

Despite launching the hashtag recently, there are already 61,688 tweets wishing Schumacher's speedy recovery. Fans from all over the world, despite speaking different languages, unite in wishing him well.

In other news, the Schumachers have placed a bid to host the 2016 world championships in reining, which is a western-style riding competition, in the ranch of their family home in Girvins, Switzerland. Corinna Schumacher was the reining champion back in 2010 and daughter Gina took part in the FEI European Championships as a junior equestrienne last August.
