Nineteen months have passed since Michael Schumacher's tragic skiing accident in the French Alps. Fans have been anxiously waiting for news regarding his current condition. However, his family has declined to release a statement.

Michael is said to be "fighting his hardest race" right now, according to former Ferrari President, Luca di Montezemolo.

Di Montezemolo was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame last month and had dedicated his award to his "great friend Michael." The former Ferrari president admitted that the success of Ferrari was in part due to Michael Schumacher.

Michael Schumacher has been quietly recuperating at his Swiss home for nearly a year since leaving the hospital.

In a statement released by his manager, Sabine Kehm, Michael Schumacher is reportedly making progress and fans should consider that it may take a while for him to recover due to the seriousness of his injuries. According to his former doctor, Dr. Jean-Francois Payen, recovery may take up to three years.

Fans continue to support the Formula One star.

Fans on social media had recently celebrated Aug. 14 and Aug 15. as two very special dates for Michael Schumacher.

In Aug 14, 1994, Michael Schumacher won his first Hungarian Grand Prix. Ten years later (Aug. 15 '04), he celebrated his fourth Hungarian Grand Prix win. His 2004 win was also his last "Grand Slam."

While Michael Schumacher quietly recuperates from his injuries, it is his children who have been achieving their own successes in the realm of sports.

Gina Schumacher, 18, had competed in the FEI European Championships in Aachen last Aug. 14. The junior equestrienne had impressed audiences with her ability to perform spins, stops and circles. "She was very honored and had a lot of fun," said Kehm.

Corinna Schumacher also made a rare public appearance as she supported her daughter.

Mick Schumacher, 16, also celebrated a successful Formula Four debut earlier this year. He had won three races while driving for the Van Amersfoort Racing team. Mick Schumacher is being considered as one of the best rookies this season.

While expectations for the young driver must be high due to his father's own success, Kehm had asked spectators to manage their expectations, given that it is his first season, and to give him some time to develop his own skills.
