Fans of Microsoft Surface Book who want to get their hands on the upgraded version, the upcoming Surface Book 2, may have to wait a little longer. Although Microsoft remains mum about the release date of the laptop, it is rumored to come out early next year.

According to reports, instead of the earlier rumors pointing to an October release, it will most likely come out early next year. Apparently, Microsoft is relying on the release of Intel's brand-new Kaby Lake processor chip, which is eyed to perform as good as the high-end processors — mostly for gaming use — that are available in the market. This processor is very powerful that it is less demanding for battery power and other hardware component.

Although processors are very important, another rumored reason for the delay is the addition of new features that would make the Surface Book 2 stand out even more. It may come with two new external features including the emerging USB Type-C ports and the trendy 4K resolution display. However, Microsoft hasn't addressed these rumors yet.

If the tech giant's upcoming laptop is eyeing on a 4K display, then it should have enough graphics hardware to back it up. Other reports reveal that the Surface Book 2 will up its game in graphics as they are rumored to be adding a higher-end graphics card using NVIDIA GTX or a specially made NVIDIA card just exclusively for the Surface Book 2.

Microsoft may also release the upcoming laptop after the Windows 10 Redstone 2 update is rolled out, which is scheduled to launch early next year as well. It would be risky for a new device to feature the new Windows 10 update fresh from the box, especially when it still has bugs and issues that are needed to be fixed. The tech giant may also launch the new Surface line devices at the same time.
