The much-awaited Microsoft Surface phone 2016 is rumored to be unveiled next month at the international industrial exhibition IFA 2016.

According to reports, the upcoming Microsoft Surface phone is expected to be launched in September during Berlin, Germany's IFA 2016. It is also rumored to release in March 2017. However, Microsoft has not confirmed the rumors yet.

There are also leaked renders of the phone that have been circulating online. Based on the leaks, the upcoming Microsoft smartphone is expected to have a 5.2-inch AMOLED screen display with 2K resolution. Under the hood, it may run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 chipset or Intel Apollo Lake processor.

The phone will also come in three variants depending on the storage capacity and RAM. The base variant has an internal storage of 32 GB with a 3GB of RAM, while the midrange will have a storage capacity of 128 GB paired with a 6 GB of RAM. The most-talked-about variant among the three is the prime variant with a whopping 500 GB of internal storage and 8 GB of RAM, something that not most smartphones have offered.

Other reports also speculate that the Microsoft Surface phone will be boasting a 21-megapizel Carl Zeiss lens rear camera. The front camera will also have a good 8-megapixel lens plus a triple LED flash. Just like the other latest flagship smartphones of other big brands, the Microsoft handset may also debut a USB Type-C port in order for data transfers to be way faster than the previous models.

As for the operating system, there are rumors that the upcoming Surface phone may feature upcoming Windows 10 update called the Redstone 2, which is expected to have a much better user interface.

When it comes to the price tag, the Microsoft Surface phone 2016 may cost from $700 to $1,099.
