There is no word yet from Microsoft regarding its rumored Surface Phone that is believed to arrive some time next year specifically targeting the masses. A lot of fans are hopeful it will materialize as it is expected to feature the Windows 10 Mobile.

Reports are hinting that entrepreneur Panos Panay and his team are working on a Surface Phone, a much smaller version of the Surface with the capacity to make phone calls. Panay is the Corporate Vice President for Surface Computing at Microsoft.

While Microsoft has yet to reveal the name of the rumored device, it is expected to come in three variants - the consumer model, business edition, and enthusiast variant. The enthusiast variant is said to be the most high-tech device among the three. The device will also come in three various storage capacities from 64 GB to 128 GB. It is also expected to feature a 4 GB and 6 GB RAM.

Furthermore, it is also likely that the Surface Phone will come with a Snapdragon 830 processor that is due for release in the first quarter of 2017. Other reports mentioned that it might also run on Intel's Kaby Lake processor.

This would possibly explain why Microsoft is delaying the device since Kaby Lake is still yet to be released. In addition to this, rumor has it that the device will be able to run on both iOS apps and Android on Windows 10.

Additionally, a USB-C feature may come with the device with a liquid cooling technology. It is also believed to come with a compass, proximity sensors, barometer, and a 20 MP Carl Zeiss rear camera.

Rumors suggest that the Microsoft Surface Phone will feature a fingerprint sensor on its display, which is considered a feature on next generation smartphones. Moreover, there is also a possibility the device will support Win23 applications.

The Microsoft Surface Phone is expected to be released in April 2017.
